I got the engine compartment cleaned up, and I sprayed the epoxy primer today. All went well, except for the mess. I'll shoot the color tomorrow, 4 coats and I'll be done thank God.
on a scale from 1-10, 10 the most difficult project, this rates a 13. Every time I do this I swear I will never do it again.

I got to say that first photo looks like the car is giving birth with the sheets up like they are.
Awsome Paul. Can you please specify the materials, prep process you used. I am doing the same project as we speak. The thread that is titled " Engine Bay Paint /Engine Refreash Project" Thanks, Mikek
Giving birth... absolutely...that picture is quite obscene now that I look at it.
The process so far:

Abrasive sand rust and loose paint and more dirt: 6 hours
Scuff sand: 20 min
Masking: 2 hours
Final prep wipe down: 20 min
Spray primer: 10 min
Tools:
simple green
Straight die grinder
Angle die grinder
Angle ginder
Big wire wheel cup
small wire wheel disc
3M sanding discs
3M Scotch Brite roloc discs
sand paper
HVLP Devilbliss spray gun
Organic Vapor Mask
BIG compressor
Paint:
PPG Omni AU Epoxy Pimer, Black and catalyst
PPG Omni MAE single stage color w/hardener and reducer
