One of the members wrote "I have a My Space to keep up with my 14 year old daughters stuff and a Facebook for the older crowd I hang with and to find and re establish contact with friends from high school 20+ years ago. "

Since I know nothing about these things and don't want to hijack another thread I'll just start a new one. How does one establish contact with friends from high school and such with this Facebook thing? Serious question.

Your turn :)

Well it basically creates you a web page that you can post pictures and information. It can be as limited or as in depth as possible. You connect with other people you find or join a network such as your hight school, college, or workplace. Its great for networking and staying in touch with people. There is even a MGB Experience group with a bunch of people here.

I signed up for Facebook two weeks ago, so I could paly poker with my ole racing buddies around the country, all of a sudden people I grew up with and have not heard from in years were there and found me. Na basicly, no one can view your Facebook page unless you confirm them as friends, so it pretty secure, like anyhting else, some folks obcess it, but it pretty harmless and good way to sekk out old friends and catch up. If you do, let me know I'll put you on my friends list. Oh and there's all kind of stuff in their as in the way fo groups, there is a couple MGB groups in there with several hundreds of members.

That was me Na, it really kind of loads itself and you can set the parameters it is allowed to search and like has been said you only let the people you know allow to be your friends. Once they are allowed they can post things to you and you can search for people based on various criteria. I only set up my high school and the year I graduated and it found 20+ that were listed within that year and a couple in either direction.

I have Facebook an MySpace accounts to keep up with my 16 year old daughter but also find FB to be a great tool for fiinding old friends.

I'm 45-ish and found friends and relative I have not seen since high school.
Just get in there and spend time playing, Facebook is a bit more challenging than MySpace but it can do a lot more.

My tip; Make sure you have your daughters' passwords for everything (including email accounts) so you can access their pages if you feel neccessary.
and at random times, go into their browser history trails to see if they have other accounts they haven't told you about.

Sounds paranoid, but I'm the prototypical Italian father and you don't wait for trouble to start, you get in there before it does. I trust nobody.
