Here's a photograph I think you might like......

This pic was taken by my father at the 1000k Rennen race at the Nurburgring May 22nd 1960, when he was part of the "Camoradi USA" team that campained the Birdcage (Tipo 60/61) Maseratis.
The fire was in the ajoining Ferarri pit. (notice the driver still in the car). The driver was Scarlatti... I have other photo's of Stirling moss pulling him from the car and beating the flames on his clothes out on his clothes.. as well as after the fire pix of the burnt dino ferarri.

The second photo shows Dan Gurney in the Birdcage Maseratis at the same race. In the backround you can see a literal who's who of the racing world of the time... Stirling Moss, Maston Gregory, Lucky Casner (Team owner), etc...... This photo was taken after the race showing the winning car/driver.

I am in the process of printing (for the first time since the early 60's) several hundred rolls of film that my dad shot when he was part of the race team before his crash on the Ring in early 1963.

If you like this image.... I might be talked into posting more...... just remember.... These photographs carry FULL copyright protections, jointly owned by my father and I, so please DO NOT re-post anywhere.

This is the FIRST publication of these images since 1963

Photo's were taken with a 2X3 Crown Graphic camera with a 105mm commercial Ektar lens

Great photos - thanks!

I guess accidents like this still happen - see what happened to Takuma Sato at the Japanese GP yesterday? Luckily, in his case, it was raining so hard that the fire went out!

Fantastic photos. There's some value there. Contact Ferarri. Too important to be sitting in a box. Do you have enough pics for a book?

Yup, yup,yup...Ditto. If you build it they will come. Put that book together, it will be a hit. Great photographs, I love black and white photography.

the usual source these days when a publisher is looking for a pic is LAT in England. You might contact them as they might be willing to rep them while still allowing you use for calendars, etc.
