I have a 75b with duel HIF carbs. Anyone running with a Flame Thrower dist & coil? Work ok or not. Heard they are design to work with port vacuum but some say they work great with manifold vacuum too. Comments from anyone with this distributor installed on a setup with manifold vacuum?

Thanks

Those distributors give 20 degrees of vacuum advance at idle when used with manifold vacuum, as opposed to the proper 10 degrees.

I have one, I originally had it on manifold vacuum, with the excessive advance at idle you get a very high idle speed, you can dial that down but you also have a horrendous flat spot right off idle. It's better on ported vacuum but still not ideal. I keep promising Jeff I'm going to send him mine so he can set it up properly for me.

i think you are better off with rebuiilt stock and a pertronix ignitor.

yes, the best option is just to have Jeff build one for you. Much better and custom made for your engine.

I agree. Go with Jeff. What you get will be better than new!
