Or anyone else interested in a Fiberfab Jamaican. Looks interesting!

My dirty little secret is I'm a huge Jamaican fan. Bill Spohn's car has to be the nicest one I've ever seen. Factory Five has made it relatively easy to build a great looking kit car. But it took tremendous skill and dedication to turn out an acceptable car from any of the fiberglass manufacturers in the the '50s-70s. The companies sold the dream of rebodying your rusted out British car into the latest offering from Ferrari or Lamborghini. But with the right "accessories" the Jamaican was a stunner;

Well Rick, looks like you are a Healey fan first, very nice work. I have just moved (after 28 years in the same house) and we have not found the speakers for our computer yet. How did the Spintech's sound?

Phil
Phil O,sorry for the jacking of your post. I am old and I am not acting my age. Sorry again.

My first car was a Bugeye Sprite in 1967 when I was in HS. Bought another 1n 1977 and restored that one. Still have it. Bought the 3000 in 1985, restored the body and motor then decided I wanted more power. Finally finished the small block Ford swap and I'm very pleased. The Spintechs sound really good, but aren't whisper quiet. They're not outrageously loud, but they are about as loud as a pair of Flowmasters. The height of them were a real selling point for me.

Thanks for pointing that one out, Phil.

The Jamaican is about the only kit car I can think of that actually looks like it might have been a real car model rather than some teenage wet dreamers idea of a cool car, and it's the only one I'd waste time on (unless owning an earkly TVR counts....)

They were very smart to choose the glass they did (Corvette front, Porsche 911 rear) and craft a body around it that looked plausible. I think it is a real shame that many of these bodies were hacked about with the 'vision' of the owner for big flairs, hood scoops etc. I tried to keep mine clean - the only modification from stock Fiberfab body was that the nose didn't flip up - the previous owner had cut a bonnet opening. Patching that back into the body is very hard and not have it show, so I left it alone when I restored it.

That Healey based car looks like it hasn't been hacked about - hopefully someone will get it and treat it right!

Rick, there's something I like about that old promo photo other than the Jamaican. Well, actually a couple of things......:)-D

I'm with you, the Jamaican is a beauty. I would also kill to have a TVR Griffith with the 289 4 speed!

Sorry, this was as close as I ever got (I used the TVR race car for testing and development on my 2 litre Twin Cam conversion):

Thanks Dave. Always liked Stan Mott's stuff. He was a weird and eccentric genius. Two of his creations below.
