I was browsing the local craigslist and found an ad for a great economy car. According to this ad, I can get 55 MPG out of a '70 Spitfire. Does anyone see a problem with this?

Let's see who the first to pic up the other minor problem with the ad is.

Ah, all Triumphs migrated from England, or so I've heard.

don't know.. but if he/she is insinuating its a European market model, the steering wheel should be on the right? just a stab in the dark

55 mpg? I don't think so. Maybe if you found a cliff that is 55 miles high.

That's what I was looking for. I am not sure but assuming that it was a home market car meaning the steering wheel would be on the right side. I take this from the listing which says that the "Car has a unique story and migrated from England." Either that or he doesn't now that Triumphs were ever sold in the US.

It could have been bought new by a US Serviceman, used over there and then shipped back Stateside. Many did. So could be LHD. Just a theory.

You have to factor in the oil leakage also. That brings down your overall petroleum usage per mile and enlarges your carbon footprint, especially if you step in the oil and track it in the house.

Could be. Thats the story of my '69 TR6. Mine came with service records from UK and Germany. Even had a part of the German autobahn mapped out in pencil on the back of the owner's manual. Yes, its a LHD
