I have a troubling suspension issue that I could use some advice on:

The body fixture that the forward, driver's side leaf spring bolts onto is peeling off the body of the car.

I have a friend with a MIG welder, would this be able to weld the thing back in place with sufficient strength?

If not, what are my options?

If I were you I would clean up the adjacent areas and even go further and look carefully at the rockers and other rust prone sections.

After making sure that other areas are not failing you can decide whether it is reasonable to go to the effort of the spring perch repair.

Personally I would farm the work out to someone who knows what he is doing in terms of not burning the car down and making the loading spread out to an area that is safe.

there are other problems in that area. I'll bet a dollar to a donut!

you'll have to clean off the old tar-undercoat to get a good look.

My advice is. Do not drive your car it is in a very dangerous condition. get a body shop to take a look at it or another MGB owner who knows his stuff. Most likely you have some serious rust problems in that area.

Rats, what a bummer. I was hoping the thing would hold out longer than this. The previous owner did a bad, bad job of replacing the floors - the rust went to about three inches before the spring perch.

I'll try and weld it back on, I guess, since it's my daily driver. What a drag, since I had just gotten a new top and a replacement motor...

Makes me wanna junk the thing, honestly. :(

Derek,
Sorry to hear your situation but the car is very dangerous to drive in that condition.

You need to get an MG expert to review the condition of the lower body very carefully and decide IF you can afford a rehab AND have the car out of service for month(s).
