I am still trying to figure out what the PO was thinking when he worked on this car. I don't think this fuel pump is an SU but rather an aftermarket brand. Either way it is not pumping fuel. It makes noise but that's about it. I will be obtaining ans SU early next week. As a side note, can anyone tell me what the little blue device is and should I keep it when I install the SU? Thanks

The little blue thing is a noise suppressor so the fuel pump won't interfere with your radio.

Try grounding the little blue thing with the loose screw and see if it pumps then.

Tim - That is definitely not a SU pump and the little blue thingy, as John and Chris have stated, is radio interference suppressor (nothing more exotic that a 0.47 microfarad capacitor) and its being grounded or not will have no affect on the pump's ability to move fuel. If you install an all electronic SU fuel pump, the suppressor is not necessary. If you go with a points style pump, you may or may not need it. I would try without it and see if you get noise from the pump through the radio. If you don't, leave it out. If you do get noise, then hook one side of it to the power connection at the pump and the other side to ground.

Be sure that you get the SU pump oriented correctly and the inlet and out let hoses connected to the correct ports on the pump. If you are not sure on either the orientation or the connections to the inlet/outlet hoses, e-mail me at SUfuelpumps@donobi.net and I'll send you some pictures.
Cheers,

Dave, I just sent you a PM.

Tim,
Before ordering a pump you probably need to look at the fuel connections to determine what else is needed. DPOs often butcher the banjo fittings.

Isn't that the ground wire for his pump though showing in the picture??
