I can't do it. Peanut butter has been the mainstay of my diet forever. My TV snack is unshelled peanuts. I live for peanut butter cookies. If I wasn't hyper glycemic I would have Reeses cups and Payday candy bars for breakfast. How about you? Threat of a little salmonella make you give up the goo?

We have given it up completely --- well until we hear an all clear :)

Why give it up? The only things I have hear was bad were peanut butter crackers from one or two sources. Has the scare gotten to any other peanut butter?

Nope, not at all.

My night time snack is PB and Jelly, without the bread. I grab the preserves, either fig or blackberry, and a jar of jelly, scoop the PB, then directly scoop the preserves, eat until I'm done,...mmm, mmm, good, none of that filler bread stuff;)

FWIW, everything makes you sick, don't be a slave to the media hype on all this. Remember the Tylenol scare a couple of decades ago, ended up being a local chick that wanted to kill her husband or something like that. Odd are in the individuals favor, so,....eat up;)

Gerry I just heard on the news a few moments ago that over 1900 products containing peanut butter have been recalled. No comfortable for me :)

One mid size supplier screwed up an entire industry. The very news people who makes this thing look like every peanut in the world is poison should be required to give equal time to publishing/broadcasting a list of companies who used their peanuts. Or list the ones who did not so their business isn't ruined as part of a "big story".

BTW, we just bought two tubs of PB this weekend at the commissary;)

I've got 4 or 5 big jars in the pantry so I set for a while. Think I have some in my MREs as well.

Ironic, though, peanut butter was created to be a health food for old folks

The owner of that company who took the 5th ( many times ) before Congress today lives just up the road from us ---- maybe that's why I'm so concerned with it being so close and all :(

Naomi id be concerned also,i think the govt will bring criminal charges against him as his company knowingly knew this product was bad,its the height of negligence. The responsible govt agencies had there budgets slashed under the previous administration, hence less inspectors and you now see the results

Is there ANYTHING wrong in your life that's not George Bush's fault?

I have not heard any reason to stop buying commercial (not institutional) peanut butter. I am hopefull the company owners will be looking at negligent homicide charges.

I don't eat it all the time, but do enjoy crunchy peanut butter and sliced onion sandwiches so I usually always have a jar on hand for when I get the urge.

My wife and I still eat peanut butter almost every day.

Mike you and Gerry need to get real and come to terms. This attitude that Bush sits at the right hand of the father is played out. I didnt mention Bush but stated what was a fact, read it and you'll understand. There were cutbacks and this is what happens------------My life is just fine, thanks for the concern. Sarcastic and negative replys because someone happens to have a different opinion then yours seems to be the norm amoung a certain few on the forum, the same few who think there opinion on the country is all that counts. Try and post a real reply for a change.

I see they closed down the Texas plant now.. due to finding dead rats, rodent dropping and bird feathers in the air ducts that exchange the air directly over the processing part of the facility.

here is the list (so far) of recalled items... click on each category, or download the entire list in .pdf form on bottom of the page.

All I have to say, is there is a crap load of products... I'm going to check my pantry to this list when I get home tonight. I suggest you do the same, you'll see after looking at the entire list, that there are some mainstream item on it that I know we have had in the past.
