When I saw this I thought it was a great deal considering the time, money and flesh required to get your car to look like this!

It's was a good deal for someone looking for the much desired 1970 split bumber.

I dont have anything to do with this company but have heard good things. As always buyer beware.

Regards,

Don

Well it doesn't have the split bumper. It does have a 5 hole wheel, but not the correct bezel on the steering wheel. But yeah, seems nice, but I would want a much closer look!

Well uggh! As far as what I don't like: the fishmouth grill and the bizzare door/ fender mirror mount configuration. As far as what's not original: the steering wheel, the rear one piece bumper, and the tan console cover (and probably more). What's not been restored: the front suspension and probably most everything underneath the car. It's amazing what "restoration" means to some people. They think a new paint job and an engine rebuild constitute a restoration. Most people know that it goes far beyond this. Good luck!

The mirror configuration looks correct but it is missing the charcoal canister.

MHO, without the split rear bumper the car is really no more unique than the other year cars. I wonder why whomever did the work didn't go through the trouble of putting it back to original with the proper pieces that have been mentioned. For that kind of dough I would definately require them to be present.

Greetings,
Something seems odd about the rear bumper overriders...too far from the body? or is it just me?

The mirror placement is right, even if the P/S mirror isn't original. Looks like the rear bumper is bent downwards somehow - Dave's right about how they look. Interesting air cleaners. Is the center armrest aftermarket for this year? My '71 didn't have one, and I bought the car from the original owner when it was 4 years old so I'm pretty sure didn't come with one.

On second thought - is it possible that a set of front overriders were used on the back? The licence lights also look a little too close to the rubber.

But perhaps being a little too picky - it still looks very good...in pictures...

Dave is right about the bumper overriders, they are not '70 overrriders. '70s had handed ones that have the cutout go deeper into the overrider. That was the only year for that.

If you really want to pick this car apart, other incorrect details include the steering wheel center is from a '71-2 and the spokes are blacked out, the map light is from a '72-, the top frame is a Michelotti - they weren't around until '71, the seats have '69 upholstery w/ early '70s headrests, '70 sunvisors didn't come with such luxuries as pockets and mirrors, the rearmost exhaust hanger is for an earlier car, it's hard to tell for sure but it looks like the wiper arms are polished - by '70 they should be satin, door panels should have black bead trim - not chrome, the door tops are wood (they probably made that choice from originality), the gauge bezels are the correct half circle profile but lack the black paint on the inner facing side, has the later trunk seal as oppsed to the seal on the trunk lid.

I would really question if it's really not a '72 or so. The VIN number fits with a '70 but the ID plate is a repro. It has the triggering hood and trunk lid stays instead of the prop rods and as far as I can see there are no prop rod brackets in the engine bay or trunk. These would be bodyshell differences as opposed to bolt-in whatever part is cleanest differences. I'm sure there are plenty more problems and deviations from originality, but aside from the engine bay that's all I can find off the top of my head.

one lousy undercar shot...

too many before mentioned inconsistancies in this B. I generally like the higher priced ebay cars..but this one looks like they just prettied it up to sell..

I believe restorations begin at the ground up..the front end doesnt look too fresh.

Where is the valve cover being vented to?

I think the car has potential..but needs an in-person, on-lift look..to see what the business end looks like.. I suspect a suspension rebuild would be in order from the one half assed pic of the underside..It appears a lot of time has gone into the car..but for the $ they want...not enough though (that is..from not seeing it in person). Have seen better values

Lots to pick apart

Radio console is not for a 70 either.
Heater control knobs either
Then the engine bay
Boot prop
