Depends how much work you're up for, what it actually goes for, & whether you'd have to figure in transportation costs to fetch it. With three days left on the auction, it's way too early to know how high it'll go... but at the current $450, it'd be a reasonably good deal just for the overdrive tranny.
Well at least it's being rescued from becomeing an electric car.
It would be worth rescuing it, just so this guy doesn't change his mind and do the conversion. The way those sill look, I think the car would split in two once the battery load was installed.
Rust is the #1 problem. With that much rust, I would take a look in person before buying.
The overdrive is a fairly rare find that is appreciating in value. Not sure if the split bumper is really of any additional value. They only made it for one year though.
I recently bought a '70 GT (split bumper) parts car with o/d transmission for 800.00. I think the price was a little high at the time. But it just takes a few parts off of it to recoup your money. I bought it for the overdrive, but have used a lot of parts off of it .(speedometer, etc..)
But be careful! Now that I have the motor/trans out of the '70 it sure would be fun to do a V-8 conversion with it.
Do you have an overdrive in your '74?
