Here's a shot of a more typical load like I usually haul, did this one yesterday with 4 pickup points in Southeast St. Louis. This is between 10,000 and 11,000 Lbs., or about 4 MGBs. I don't know what the 6 peices up front are, that's something new the shop is going to finish up for a company up in the city. Behind that, side by side, are a dozen gear blanks about 32" in diameter, nearly solid steel except for 4 two inch holes in them. The next two stacks are a dozen 48" or so brake discs, open in the middle, but still a hell of a lot of steel. Each of those 4 skids weigh about 2,500 Lbs. each. The little item on the back is four double row chain sprocket I took up last week for heat treating.
It looks like I'll be moving some big puller wheels for stringing electric highlines before long and will show them when I do.

One of these days when you are in SE St. Louis with a little time to spare let me know, OK? :)
Good Hope street, the one lone building on that block right on the corner. Remember the old black boogie joint, "The New York Lunch & Supper Club"? That was built onto the West side of our building and is now part of it, we build brake calipers for those monster reel brakes in that area now. The once nearby "People's Cafe", sight of many stabbings and a shooting now and then has returned to dust. It's still a rough area at night but the shop owner knows how to deal with the people down there and nobody ever bothers anyghing around the place.
Mike, When I'm up there I'm in and out as quick as I can make it. I'm mostly running around near and on South Kingshighway and Gravois between I-44 and I-64, from Northrup Ave up to Cass, and sometimes down on Hall Street. About the only places I can put that rig is on the lots of the shops we deal with and many times I end up eating lunch about 2:00 PM down around Festus. Normally I'm back on I-55 about 12:30 and catch lunch about 1:00.
JD, you're very near where we live if you're in the Kingshighway/Gravois area...
As Saffyres said, that's very close to us, let us know when you're in the area, there's a Steak-n-Shake at Kingshighway and Chippewa with a big-arse lot you can put that rig on. With a day or so notice we could both sneak out of work for an hour or so for lunch. :)
We'll see, lunch is usually about a 20 minute thing for me. Just something I have to do to keep from folding up later.
