Hello everyone,
I justed had a valve job done on my 64 B, and ordered a Head Gasket kit from Moss. Do you need to put gasket dressing on the Head Gasket. The old one was copper and just popped right off.

Thanks Brad

I like to use that spray on copper stuff...but that's just me. Goes on both sides...gets tacky....makes a nice seal.

use it and then make a small mound around each water hole when you compress the gasket it reinforces against leaks especially areound cylinders 2 & 3.

the std head gasket should not require "stuff" on it.

Use a Payden or FelPro and no sealant is needed. These head gaskets have special sealing rings built in.
A Payden head gasket is a no leak gasket.

with the new head gaskets nothing should be used just clean surfaces

IOt seems that the all black Payen gaskets sold alone are on back order but the same gasket in the head set was available last ime I looked.

basil, it's the set that i have backordered. maybe i'll call them next week. it's getting about time that i need to use it.

Payen and Fel-Pro are the same gasket and work best when the head and block surfaces are very smooth. Have the head skimmed using the modern methods a good machine shop uses. Old style rough broaching is bogus for the new gaskets.

I've got several sitting here and know I can get more from my supplier. Cheaper than Moss if anyone needs them. Basil 707.762.0974

To add to Basil having them, I've got them from Gordon (The B Hive) in just the last few weeks as well in head sets.
