Hey guys, i just stumbled onto this forum today. Well let me get down to the good stuff.
My grandfather purchased the car new in 76 and it has been in the family since, never spent a day of its life under the stars. Sadly to say the only scratches were caused by me when i was a boy. If i remember i crashed into it with my bicycle learning to ride.
The car is a 1976 MG Midget Special, 59,000 original miles, the body is totally original although it was repainted about 15 years ago. It has the original 1500 motor with the side draft carb , never rebuilt. The car starts and runs excellent. The interior is original also, the seat covers are there to protect the seats. The only non OEM part on the car is the convertible top. The original one was ripped and dad ordered a new one but it doesn't quite fit perfect. Also the tonneu cover( i think that is what it is called) was stolen from the car may years ago. Anyway here are some pictures.

Finally another have a special. A 75 when got it had 36000 now 45000. Only mine had hard life till I got it. Blown motor[ rings stuck to pistons] Sit about 15 years not running. Yours is definitely looks better. On question does it have a 1925 1975 octagan in the passenger side of the dash.
Now there is least two here is picture on mine. 45000 miles. Has been repainted with new decal. Had blown motor when I got it. Does it have the 1925 1975 octagan in the passenger dash.
very nice car Cody!
I hope you are going to keep it and drive it, since it was your granfather's car.

Excellent car. I thought special were on for 75 only. Learn something all the time. Mine is title as a 76 since it was built in late 75. So that is reason I thought yours was 75 like mine. Thought you were going by title year. By the way welcome to the forum. Hope to hear more from you. Ride and enjoy.
I have read in the past (don't know if it is the truth or not) that the "Special" and the
"Sunrunner" decals were strictly stateside dealer promotion gimmicks on the rubber bumper cars.
