My valves have been clicking a little to loud for my tastes on my 70 GT. I adjusted them cold as .015 like the manual says. They are still way too loud. Any advice, anyone else set theres differently?

You might want to check out the rockers and rocker shaft for play. I just pulled one apart to clean up turned out to be badly worn with vertical play between the rocker and the shaft but no side to side movement of the rocker. If your rockers have any vertical play in them it would be imposible to get the correct gap set.

Also- if all else fails......the head or rocker arm may be mismatched. There are 2 distinct methods of oiling the rockers. If someone changed the head or rocker arm they may be mis matched- Ask me how I know!?!?!. It took me forever to figure out and I never did until I pulled the rocker arm to have it rebuilt. It was fixed with a $12 used rocker pedestal.

What Stewart said....that turned out to be my problem when I couldn't quiet down the valve trai.

Stewart, I love the color of your 75 B. Is there a color code for it. I'm looking to do a V8 conversion in a darker silver such as yours. Brian

Do you have a aftermarket cast valve cover? I put one on and it was noisey! Promptly replaced the stock one.

How loud is it compared to other MGBs? People who aren't familiar with solid lifter engines sometimes think they are too noisy when they are set correctly.
