I've stripped my brake master cylinder to fit a rebuild kit and have hit what i think is a problem is the metal band that connects the two parts together supposed to open at one end or is mine broken ? and if it is where do i get one from any help would be appreciated this is for a 1975 midget

Can you take a picture? I am actually going through a master cylinder rebuild right now too. I don't know if I can help, but maybe offer you less pain through my experience :)
