I am gonna paint the Union Jack on the hood. It's a removable part and I have a spare. I should have the wheels painted by this weekend. I am going to paint the black part of the Rostyles in BRG. What do y'all think? My parts should be in today!!!! All but the brake and clutch parts :-( Paul

Sounds cool. One of the guys in the MGs of Baltimore club painted his hood in a stylized version of the club colors, melding the Maryland state flag (which IMHO is one of the coolest state flags ever) with a Union Jack. You definitely know its him when you see him coming!
I know that this sounds a little anal Paul but before you go doing something that will require a lot of effort to back out of, I suggest that you go buy some masking tape and a bottle of white liquid shoe polish. Then mask off the design and "paint" it in so that you can live with it for a day or two in order to decide whether you REALLY want to walk out to the car everyday and see it sitting there. The polish will wash off and with a tiny bit of waxing you will never be able to tell that it was once there.
In any event, you will either breathe a sigh of relief for not having shot the real stuff or you will do the real painting with a full and happy heart. :-)

The flag on the bonnet sounds like a fun idea. I got my doubts about the green on the wheels but hey, give it a try :)
A la Jack's shoepolish suggestion, there was an ad on the TV the other day for a wash-off spray paint. Sorta like wash off tattoos for your car.

The rostyles that were on my B when I bought it were painted to match the blue body color. I didn't like it.

That's pretty much what my mother always told us about tatoos. She suggested we get those temporary ones that you could wash off after a day. (I'm sure this won't endear me to those with tatoos!)
They make decals for Mini roofs. They are a 3M product that can be pulled off without harming the paint. I've got the clear version on my trunk lid where my bike rack sits. I wonder if those guys would do one for a MG if you provided dimensions. It would likely be cheaper than a custom paint job and would be reversible. I think it would look cool on the roof of a GT. I always thought if I got a Mini I would paint a St. George's cross on the roof.
When I was a teenager, I painted the bonnet of my Midget in checkerboard. (mostly to cover up the bondo and primer!) You can see it on the top left photo. I like the flag idea, not sure of the green wheels.
Just paint the flag on your spare hood, if you don't like or get bored with it then refit the original.
Not sure about the green rosstyles myself, but it's your car
Cheers Ric

You don't fool us, Tom. Temp tatoos hadn't been invented yet when your mother was raising you... ;^)

Yeah, but my mom didn't know that! ;-)
Yep, thats what I am going to do. I will paint the spare bonnet and see how I like it. There is no cost involved as I already have the spare paint. It'll just cost me a little clear. I think the green is dark enough to look ok on the wheels. I'll try it and see. I will post pix when done. Paul
A few years back there was a member here who had a Teal BGT with a Brit flag on the hood. It was made entirely of red and white duct tape as I remember. It looked pretty damned good in the picture. Why not try with the duct tape first? Just be sure you get the offsets correct or the Brit Flag Police with raz you about doing it wrong
Personally, I'd rather paint the roof of a BGT like that. Hmmm---I have a Teal GT, half way there already;o)
I don't think that the wheels would look so bad in the body color. Maybe just a shade lighter for contrast. I say go for it Paul. Your original idea of painting the roof reminds me too much of a British DOH spinoff! Yeeeee Haaaaaaaaaw!
"where'd you go Cooter? ....... Come back."
