Hey Guys,

Can someone post a picture of what a British Motor Heritage Certificate for a 1967 MkI MGB Roadster would look like.

You can cover up the VIN # or whatever you don't want to reveal, if that's a problem. I've wanted to buy one for years and I've just always wondered if they were really worth the 80 bucks or not.

If no one has a picture of one, can someone tell me what I should expect to learn for a car such as mine, if they've already ordered one.

Are they worth the cash??

Thanks Amigos!

Man Brian, I would, but my scanner isn't working.

Are they worth the money? No. Are they pretty cool to have? Yea. So if you don't mind 'throwing away' $60-65 - they're worth it.

I have been thinking exactally the same for a while.

Here are some links, both for Triumph's though, but should give you a rough idea.

Brian,

Here's a shot of mine. I added the photo of Ruby and hangs in the workshop. Needs to change the frame to chrome. I agree with Janel.

I would also agree with Janel and Ted. We have one for the '74 and I will probably get one for the GT - it is cool to have the "birth certificate" and know a little more about what you own - is it worth it, not really!

Got to side with the boys. Its a bit expensive but worth it for the envious looks from the folks at the shows who don't have them. Its pretty cool to know my car was built on August 27 1969 and came with whitewall tirea and an ashtray - but no radio.

I have one for each of my cars, I like to frame them with before and after pictures of the restorations.
It has confused me though on my 66 roadster as the certif says it was born red, when I purchased it, it was white, and a high quality paint job. There is nothing on the car anywhere that indicates that it was ever red so if they did a colour change they did a bare shell complete job.

Get it if only for one reason: Provenance. It is the car's birth certificate.

When you go to sell your B someday, you'll be able to show its history right back to day one, and that will add to its value... even if it no longer has the same engine or transmission, etc.

When we do the Barrett-Jackson auction coverage on Speed, I'd say having a Heritage certificate on display with a car probably adds 10% to the hammer price. It certifies that the car is (or isn't) just the way it left the factory.

The more detailed history you have with your car, the better in the long run.

LOL,,,,,it can tell you what assembly line it ran on, the names of the people that put the stuff on it, tires, fenders, windshield, wipers, the names of their children and the pub he had his pints in : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) T M I?????

Hey Ted Thanks so much, I have some more questions for you and the group though!

What did you supply to The Heritage people?

I already KNOW that I have the very last MGB built in 1966, I assume Dec. 31, 1966, assuming that MGB Enthusiasts Car #'s are correct.

The main reason that I want it is that I am doing my whole restoration and I don't have the original engine anymore, Long gone.

If I supply the VIN #, will THEY supply the engine number? along with color, etc?

I am wondering what YOU supplied to them in return for the cert?

Brian

Thanks All!!!!

The site asks what they are looking for but as I recall, they want whatever numbers you have on it now. It is worth it.

I feel it's worth the price. I had some questions about my original engine # and supplying them the VIN number worked out just fine. They came back with more than I thought and to my relief my concerns were cleared as my car had everything the certificate states.
