Have any of you got vacation plans for 2009? I understand you don't get as much leave as us lazy Europeans, but anyone looking to make a trip or two? Will you be staying closer to home this year because of the Credit Crunch, or will you be jetting off somewhere exotic regardless..?
I'm getting restless again and am trying to decide on my next destination. I am thinking it would be a good time to check out India, as there are cheap flights there at the mo. The pound's not the strongest but at least you can live cheaply there.

With this fancy new job, hopefully, by August, I'll be able to get enough time to take the 'ole lady on a seven day cruise.
My goal, and has been for quite some years, is to take her on a Mediterranean cruise, starting in Barcelona and ending in Venice. That particular route covers many of the places I've been, and I'd like to show her those places, but that's in the future, hopefully not too far future:)
2 weeks, Bath and SE Cornwall this summer. Also going to the Enfield Pageant of Motoring.
my wife and i keep going back and forth on whether to go away to mexico again this year. We are planning a major reno to the house so we don't know yet. Starting to think we made it through the worst in January, so might be able to stick it out now. If we get another cold snap or a big snow that will change in a hurry
Steve,
Years ago I stayed at a nice B&B up in York. Great little bar, the owner put us on the honor system. I could spent a week there but it looks like we'll stay close to home.

I just booked 2 weeks at the Wooden Boat School in Maine. Hopefully lots of sailing and track weekends will fill in the gaps. I usually prefer long weekends to a week off, my attention span is too short.
I have a nephew that is doing an internship in Germany this summer, trying like hell to make it over there to visit.
Traveled a lot in 2008.......2 weeks in Florida in March with both our children and their families, eastern Caribbean in June, then the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Alaska by motorcycle in July combined with visit with son's family in British Columbia, then back to BC in September with my wife to visit son and grandchildren, then an Alaska cruise for us.
2009 will see us visit BC again to check out a new grandchild due next month and Ontario to visit our oldest son and new grandson (born Feb 11th!!). The only other travel on the books is the MGB v8 Convention (tentative) in North Carolina and Targa Newfoundland (as a volunteer) by motorcycle in September. There may be long weekend runs around the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton and the Gaspé in Quebec as time and travel budget allows.
Central Fl. next month for two weeks(vacation house hunting) wife gies to Vegas in april to meet about 10 other gals from NY we grew up with(I call that one geezers trying to go wild).....upstate NY for a week in June to bring back antiques from the home we sold in Cooperstown. Then we take the motorhome and go to the NM mountains around the 4th. of July..up around Capitan. We're also trying to fit in a trip to Calif..around SF..always wanted to go to Fishermans Wharf. Thats so far..
Just got home Sunday from a 4 night Disney Cruise in the Bahamas, and 3 days at Disneyland (Florida). I'm all Disneyed out! This one was for the kids.
Mid summer tour the San Juan Mountains prospecting for gold, silver, agates, and turquoise. In the fall, down to South Texas prospecting for a winter home so I don't spend another winter here freezing my butt off.
Charlotte for a national dog show in October. Hopefully Mexico in November. Being retired, every day is vacation.
Most likely to the east coast, Boston and New York mostly. I've been amost everywhere west of ohio but never east, except for D.C.
And I'm trying to make it to MG2009.

I believe Morgan factory is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. Would love to make the pilgrimage again for that. Love the Malvern Link area. This year will take us to MG 2009 in Colorado and have a place reserved in Maui.

Hello Chuck:
We've never met but exchanged emails several years ago when you bought a set of repair pieces for the rear of your MGB restoration. I too am retired and loving every minute of it.

We're planning on one camping trip with our daughter, her husband, and the grandkids. Also a trip to Seattle for a week or so. Late Summer a backpacking trip in the Cascades. I'd also like to do at least one trip to the coast, and perhaps a little backpacking there for a couple days. All close to home.
I plan on taking the Travco out to Las Vegas to visit my son & family in April or May, before it gets scorching hot, an do some touring going and coming. I still want to get up around upstate NY, Maine, maybe Nova Scotia. Maybe this year that will finally be a late Summer trip for us.
Planning on going to Chicago in March for a few days. Nothing else besides that. Im not much of a vacation kind of person.
Well, I'd planned to have a nice week at the SC coast this spring, but the pink slip in December circumvented that fantasy. I haven't had a vacation in 4 years and it looks like I won't have one this year either. Even if I get a job, I'd have to take time off without pay to have a vacation this spring... :(
The usual Mitty Challenge. Four days camping at Road Atlanta. I am taking the Benz this year!

I am GREEN with envy !!!!! What course(s) are you taking?
Topsail Island, North Carolina......still looking for Blackbeard's treasure.
Leave for San Diego in less than 36 hours! Annual trip to DC in May. Going to Boston to see my sister get her doctorate, in May as well. Cape Cod to see the folks in August.
This year I'm taking Fundamentals, hopefully I'll learn at a few new things. :) I built a kayak up there in 07 and fell in love with the place. There arent many places where you can sail world class wooden boats, everyday!, while learning from true craftsmen. If you love sailing and/or wooden boats you really need to get there at least once.
I travel for work, so hopping on a plane and going somewhere isn't that big a thrill.
Connie and I will be driving to MG 2009 in Breckenridge, Colorado and seeing the sights.
And David Sauer, you have to be in Breckenridge...I have a cigar with your name on it :)
