I put an original steering wheel on my '61 MK1 Midget and bought a new horn push for it, as well as a new horn brush. The horn brush was too long so I cut it down and the horn works great. But I can't get the horn push to stay in. The horn brush seems to still be pushing it out but I'm afraid to cut it down anymore for fear it won't work the horn. I have even tried to glue ithe horn push down but it still keeps popping out. How do I keep the horn push from coming out?:S

I had the same problem with the button and brush on my BE. I cut the brush way down as far as I thought it was safe, and then used superglue on two sides of this very thin cardboard. It is used to shim the button in place very tightly. Do some test strips, glue er down, tape it all in place and call it a day. The reason you use cardboard (or thick paper, depends on how loose it is) is that you want to use a "sacrificial" material that will come apart someday when you pry up on the button with a screwdriver. And yes, that day will come--it aways does.
You could also just hold it in place with the blue stuff, but it is not very elegant, is it?

Originally there were 2 very small spring clips that attached to the side of the push and helped wedge it into the steering wheel boss.
Look at the inside of the horn and you will see 2 square recesses in it, one on each side.
Moss had them? not sure if they still do. I bought some and quickly lost them. I used a couple small pieces of spring steel cut and bent to fit into the recess, still holding.
Yeah, I bought those clips from VB. A complete waste of money. The plastic inside the steering column is so soft at this point all the little teeth did was make the scratch marks deeper. I even put some bondo type material in to see if I could get a little purchase, and that did not work. Save your money.
But, Michael, I like your way of thinking. The spring steel might work well.
