Hi Paul,

Just do what Dave mentioned below, I didnt realise you could do that!

Just click the Attach button and browse for the image on your computer. The pictures are automatically resized. To add more than 2 pictures just reply to the thread again.

It's a pain when oversize pictures from online hosts cause the page to expand and I have to keep scrolling side to side to read.

Dave I totally didnt realize you could do that! amazing, thats alot easier, forget my post

Just for the record I always kept my pictures to a reasonable size, but sometimes its good to get bigger pictures on there for more detail, just my opinion.

Sorry, I didn't mean to do this. PJ

A better way to do it is to sign up for a photobucket account (free)
and upload them there, then link it in the body of your message. That's what I do. The site here limits the size and number of pictures you can post.

If this site goes down or goes away for whatever reason (after all, it is a one man operation), your pictures are still there.

See below for my photobucket account.

By all means, put your pictures in Photobucket (or similar) but PLEASE do not link a whole bunch of huge, high resolution pictures directly to your post. Only rarely do we want to/need to see so much detail. The rest of the time it just takes a whole lot longer (for people like me still on dial-up) and harder to look at if it won't fit onto my screen. Not to mention harder to read the whole thread if I have to keep moving the cursor back and forth.

Put up a reasonable sized picture and refer people to your Photobucket account for those who want/need the extra detail.

From the Forum Rules:-
[quote]
6) When posting pictures, please resize them to less than 800 pixels wide. If you need a free program to resize pictures on Windows, try IrfanView. All uploaded photos will be resized to a reasonable size, but uploading large photos puts a lot of load on the server.

Paul,

I use Imageshack, it's quick, easy and free.

I'll go on record as saying that I like the way that Ted posts his pictures as the best, if you don't want to resize all the pictures you post (like I currently do). A nice picture (thumbnail) that's clickable if you want to look at a higher resolution version. Bravo!

Maybe Ted could oblige by posting an example to illustrate what I mean to those who might not have noticed it before.

The only improvement I'd make (if it's possible) would be to make the thumbnail a bit bigger. Sometimes my old eyes are a bit tired. Sigh! :)

Thanks Derek,

Unfortunately ImageShack only offers one size thumbnail. At least it gives the viewer
an opportunity to either view the actual image or pass on it. I resize and sometimes
crop photos before I upload them to ImageShack. This one, as an example, is 1.74m,
sized at 900 pixels wide, 300 resolution. When clicked on the thumbnail it will take you
to the site with a larger photo, click on the larger photo a couple of times and it will
be displayed actual size, pretty much filling the depth of a 15 inch screen.

It's called broadband and monitor resolutions greater than 800x600.

Welcome to the 21st century. :P
