How do I soften my rubber (window seal)?

Hi folks,

I recently re-hung my door after some sill work and I noticed a bit of a tight fit where the vent window fits into the rubber seal on the front window. Further inspection shows the rubber seal on the main window is folded over on itself and is partly to blame for the poor fit (see pic). Is there something I can "massage" into the rubber that will soften it up? I don't want to get into replacing that seal at the moment because I have too many other "must do's."

I don't think I've ever seen a seal that was quite that compressed.

You can adjust the vent window frame by loosening it up and jiggling it around

Vaseline....but watch for breakage.

If you do not relieve the pressure, you will crack the door skin and frame. The crack of doom.. No sh---t.
