OK, it’s me, stumped again!

On hooking the coil ignition wire that heads to the center of the distributor cap, I’m confused. Does the little copper washer (Moss part number146-310) just twist on to the end of the bare ignition wire, then make contact with the screw in the base of the coil-hole, then the washer keeps the wire in place with the screw-in nut connector (Moss part number 152-400)?

The later coils just have a brass connector affixed to the ignition wire that just pushes into the coil. I’m thinking my previous 64 had a later type coil conversion, as I don’t remember having any difficulty attaching this wire, just pushing it in.

I tried this procedure, and while it seemed to work initially, there was no spark at the number one plug. Plus, when I held back on the ignition wife going into the coil, the washer had basically acted as a wire stripper and pulled right out.

Very frustrating

Maury,
I just went out to the garage to check on my '63. Jeff Schlemmer (B-racer) rebuilt my 25D and the Coil wire that goes to the coil has the nut already on it and it just screws to the dizzy and the flat metal end on the coil wire butts up against the screw in the coil...NO washer is used that I can see...

Strip the inner wire to the radius of the washer, stick it through the hole and spread the strands out. The nut then clamps the wire between the washer and center screw. Obsessive types solder the wire to the washer. Push-in connectors on screw-in coils is a good way to ruin a good coil - the spark arcs and burns up the plastic.
