I'm about to send my dizzy down to jeff. Is timing it the same as using points?

Thanks,

Russ

The distributor position will change once you add the Pertronix because the relative position of the trigger is different than the points. You need to rotate the distributor clockwise about 30 degrees. If you don't then starting it and getting it running can be a challenge. The timing will be way retarded.

The vacume is still disconnected correct? Some say to seel it off. Do you seal the hose or the vacuem itself?

Seal off the manifold/carb so it doesn't leak. That's the vacuum source. There's nothing to leak out of the distributor. That's the end that responds to the vacuum source.

Typically, the Pertronix units DO shift the engine timing, but only by 2-8 degrees. Not enough to cause the car not to start. The timing procedure is exactly the same as with points EXCEPT that you can't leave the key on with the engine NOT running, unless you want to see a little black mushroom cloud emanating from the side of your engine.
