Time will tell...
I have a "date" in early June that's going to push me a little...

I hate sanding as well. My last big sanding event was a boat. The photo is before primer/paint. It had to be sanded between all the coats as well. I can't find a photo of it when it is done that is less than 2 mb. to post. The second photo is after black paint and wet sanding.
Now that was a big job..!
It doesn't make me feel any better about mine, but thanks for trying... ;)
Now... back to the garage aggravate a few neighbors with the ol' DA.

I don't like it either...I like to refer to it as mind numbing! but if you don't pay attention and get a perfectly smooth surface it will look like crap any on even areas will look 5 times worse when the paint is on.
Mark, do Rick's struts raise the bonnet higher than the OEM prop? Looks like that could make working in the engine bay a bit safer and more convenient.

Enough that you can pull the engine & trans w/o disconnecting them. Nearly vertical.
I have a set of these struts both front hood and trunk lid, love them, best investment ever.
In my opinion, from a cost vs benefit perspective... the struts are the best addition I have made to the car. I don't know why I waited so long to put them on.
Highly recommended..!
Rick gets bonus points for being a great guy to deal with.

X3 or whatever
Have them front and back as well. I've forgotten what it is to bump my head every time I popped open the bonnet. I also don't have to worry about some well-meaning but unfamiliar extra hand jumping in to close the bonnet or boot without unlocking the strut.

Thanks, guys.
Look for me at the Chicagoland MGb Club Swap Meet in Wheaton, IL on February 26th.
Midget bonnet and boot kits available soon!
Struts...smuts...nothing a long peice of wood wouldn't fix.
Sanding - at least doing it is achieving something...unlike masking...
Paul ;-)

How ya goin' to pull that lump of an engine with a 2x4 in the middle of the bonnet? <grin>
Mark, I'm at the same place-sanding that is, but I find it relaxing. The are struts are great. Can we get some opinions on the boot lid struts? Are they worth it?

Yes.
Calculate the repair cost for this damage...

I have a set on my GTs bonnet and love 'em. Soon as I get around to having a replacement boot lid painted for the Tourer, that too shall get a set for both ends.

And in my opinion, they are mounted too low...note how Mr Hayter and friend need to bend down to peer into the engine bay.
I'd kike to use struts but the site says you can't use the struts with an aluminum bonnet. I like the idea of support on both sides of the bonnet. I guess that's why one of the club members uses a cut down broom stick to show his engine at car shows.

I now have a strut application for aluminum bonnets....both MGB and MGC.

You have a PM.
My Wife Lou has a set on the boot lid of her car...great for shopping.
I thought this thread was mainly about body work IE: Sanding?
Bonnet struts was the second thing I did after delivery of my B last May. What was the first you ask lol. Flushed the fuel system and tank. Apologies to Rick - was still unaware of you, wasnt a member yet. I used struts and brackets for yacht hatches by Taylor Marine, 'cos of my former job in the boat parts business. Results were the same; opens nearly vertical, LOVE 'em (tu)
