I Need A Electrical Genius!

OK. Heres my question.
I have one of those orange extension cords with the black molded male/female plug on either end.
Well, I lent my 50' out and when I got it back it looks like it got caught in a door or something and is cut at about the middle.
Being part Scot's I hate to throw anything out. So, my plan is to just make two shorter cords by putting new add on ends.
Heres the question.
The wires are black, white and green.
Which is the larger prong, which is the smaller prong and which is the ground.
My guess is black larger, white smaller and green ground?
Since the ends are molded cant get a clue.

green is ground,but just splice them together solder and tape and keep it one long cord.

I can't recall which is the larger terminal, but terminals are color coded;

White wire goes on the silver terminal.
Black wire goes on the gold terminal.
Green (or bare ground) wire goes on the green terminal

Wyatt's solution will work however be aware that if it ever caused a fire, it may void your insurance.

Just asked the hubby and he said the green is ground -- the white wire is neutral and goes on the larger prong -- and the black is hot and goes on the smaller prong :)

And pray tell what did he have to say about the bisection:hot:....or maybe we don't really want to hear.....:eyeroll:
