I had a customer ask me yesterday where the wire cutters are. As I was leading him down the aisle, past my department head I said to the customer "The regular dykes are down here, the strippers are in electrical".Later the department head credited me with the funniest line he's heard in a long time. It was then I realized what I had said.
My uncle and his father have run a hardware store for as long as I can remember.
He 'says' he had a lady come in and ask for a file.
He asked her, "How about this bastard cut file?"
She (not missing a beat) said, "No, I think this little Son of a Bitch will do."
The story has been going around our family since I was a kid. Reminds me of my grandfather. :_
My favorite happened in my Home Depot - apparently a customer left her purchases in the Plumbing department, because the announcement went out over the PA - "Will the woman with the two-inch black nipples please return to plumbing?..."
