Hi Folks:

In my 77B on the heater control console, below the radio, there are two indicator lamps. On the left is the "Fasten Seatbelt" indicator. On the right is another indicator light that is a mystery. The owners manual does not say anything about it and I can't find it on the wiring diagram. (must be looking in the wrong place)

So help and old guy out and tell me what the heck this indicator is for...B)

Thanks,

Ren

Have the same on mine and I've concluded it's for nothing! It's an opportunity for custom owner innovation (or, a future DPO-ism...)

I believe you, but it is odd that it has wires running to it, and a bulb in its socket. I stole the bulb from it and used it to replace the burned-out one in the seat belt indicator lamp and that now works. I guess I won't bother replacing the bulb in the "nothing" indicator.

I am on a mission to have EVERY electrical light functioning in my MG. I only have the courtesy lamp left to fix.

I believe this is the indicator for the GT's rear window heater.

I've got a thought in my head that in my 78B the other light by the fasten seat belts is for the parking/hand brake on light.

That's whatI've been lead to believe anyway but I can't help more as mine not running yet!

My 78 had a blank in that spot. Nothing there. The one on the right is for the seat belt warning light.

Geesh, I figured this would be an easy question, but there seems to be a lack of consensus, if you know what I mean...

Maybe I'll put a new bulb in it and see if it does anything :eyeroll:

On may car, I had a blank open light socket area beside the seat belt light.

So I wired in a small red LED light in that location that comes on when I have the car in O/D as a reminder. It works great and was very easy to install.
