One of our local airports had a fly-in and Hot Rod show today, we decided to gatecrash, we got seven MGs together for a cruise and just showed up at the car show, they were kind of surprised to see us but let us park for free, MGs en masse command respect. :D

They proved to be very popular too, 7 MGs among a couple of hundred Hot Rods and almost everyone had a story of an MG they or a family member or friend owned.

We are all brothers and sisters under the skin. We are all gear heads or body/paint work freaks at heart. Appreciation for what it takes to deal with LBCs or Chevys comes from the same gene. Some folks like chocolate and some like strawberry. LOL

Actually, once everyone had got over the "what are those little bitty things?" we were very welcome, like I said, most people have at least one LBC story to tell, two of our cars had V8s (one with 300BHP AT THE WHEELS!) and the rest were all obviously well loved. They also liked the fact we just drove on in, we didn't register to be judged, we just turned up for fun, they liked that.

Also, the comment from one kid aged about 7 while pointing at one of our cars "That car says Midget and I'm bigger than it is!" was just great!

Talking of LBC stories, we went to the grocery store in the B yesterday, when we came out there was a drunk holding a beer can looking at the car waiting for us so he could tell us about the 69 he had that he still regrets selling.

I love these cars. :D

Almost all the lbc stories I hear, go like this: "I bought a 73 new and had so many problems i made the dealer take it back 3 months later"

just yesterday...a lady behind me at the ATM.

2 yrs ago, the fire inspector at my shop.

All I could say was something like: "well, those that survived are better than they were new!"

Most of the stories I hear are from people who have owned them and loved them. Those are the people who realised that the B was not an American car that would go 100,000 miles between oil changes!

Well, I always say I don't like "snobs", so of course I don't want to be one! Maybe it's just because I don't like American cars(although, I am SERIUOSLY considering a 3.4 V6 in my MGB:). All I here is V8, V8, V8, V8..........You ask how to make a car go fast, they say "V8"! The MINI Cooper "S" is fast, does it have a V8?? LOL.

A guy at the parts house today said that he had two 78 Midgets, but one has a hole in the side of the block.

I didn't have the hear to tell him that ALL Spitwad engines end up that way. :-)

I kept my mouth shut partly because he was a nice guy and partly because he knows where there is a good $800 GT and a restored T series car hidden in a dead guy's garage over on another mountain. Updates as they happen! LOL

Got one on an engine stand over in the corner of the shop just waiting for the day that a solid GT floats by when I happen to have some extra money!

Personally I want a second generation Camaro, commonly referred to as The American Berlinetta. Preferably in Ferrari Rosa or Fly Yellow!

Go with V6. Two of my Florida buddies were always getting into it, one had a Rover V8 the other a brand new out of the box V6. Upgraded to the best roller rockers, etc. The rest of us finally had had enough and made them race each other...V6 won every time. Damn that thing was fast and beautiful

To top it all off, after beating the V8 into the ground several times, he turned around and sold it back to the original owners in Texas for $15,000. Then bought a BMW Z3, sold that after a few months and bought a Harley.

If we're posting pictures, here's one of the ones I mentioned earlier, Buick 315 bored and stroked to 5.1L, freshly built, the target power is 300bhp at the wheels, it hasn't been dynoed yet though. I've also attached a shot of the other V8 that was with us.
