Not that it matters, just curious. I need a starter for the Midget and I was looking at the TD starter when I took it out. They look similar. Haven't driven the Midget in a while and I get in to find the starter is dead. I need to fix it ASAP as it is my ONLY running LBC at this time! Must get a starter fast..

The 948 and 1098 are same as the TD. Don't know about the 1275.
BTW
Now that you actually own a TD they are the first Midgets.....FWIW
I know... It would be confusing if I called them both that. Maybe old Midget and new Midget or daddy Midget and kid Midget... Midget 1 Midget 2...
I was a pair of weeks without visiting the forum and now, that I've come back you already have a TD!!!!!!!!!
What a lucky guy. Congratulations.
got this from an old friend a few years ago. On my race Spridget, i didn't have to dent in the passenger footwell about 1/8 of an inch. On my '75 I did and on my ;70 street car.
"The 1989 Isuzu Trooper II 2.6 liter fuel injected 4 cylinder engine uses
a starter that is a near perfect fit for the A-series engine found in
Sprites and Midgets. The starter fits all 948, 1098, and 1275 A-series
blocks. The are two frame numbers listed for the Trooper. The 17155 is a
perfect fit in all respects but seems to be no longer available. The
16878 fits the engine perfectly but requires a little modification to some
sheet metal. It is the latter, the 16878, that you will probably get over
the counter, unless you are very lucky".
The Isuzu starter is available in places like Pep Boys, Advance Auto, etc
for about $70.

Do tell what "sheet metal" modifications need to be done....
Cool. Hey Jeremy, did you get my email about the JC Whitney fog lights?
Where the starter solenoid goes up against the passenger footwell,is what needs to be modified. On my '75 Midget with a 1275, I just took a hammer an knocked it back a bit. About an 1/8 of an inch will do. I'm not sure if you can see it in this picture or not. You'll have to extend the starter solenoid wire to reach the Isuzu solenoid. I took the incoming power cable to the solenoid from the battery and put it on the same side as the big cable to the starter so I would not have to make a new cable.
Cool. Hey Jeremy, did you get my email about the JC Whitney fog lights?"
Paul,
Don't play games. Either PM or tell us all about JCW...the ones who dumped 1000 Genuine Lucas SLR SFT WLR AND WLT driving lamps and fog lamps in the garbage back in the 70s as NLS units...
20 years later selling for $100 + each....
These......

I had a set on the Datsun Rodster, the BGT and now the Midget or the TD for the next set. I think the TD would look best with Amber so I got those this time. They have a vintage look and you can buy replacement lenses. Made by Eagle Eye.
Here they are on my previous car. Chrome holds up well too.
yeah, I would love to get a set and work on the car but Katie is hassling me about planning the wedding.
Wedding schmedding! Just kidding! It'll be over soon....... your life I mean..... Just kidding again!!! When you get time we gonna hook 'em up!
