Moss has a Voltage Stabilizer for SMITH guages that keeps a steady 10 volts. The Voltage Regulator was removed by PO upon conversion tolt Neg Grnd and Alternator.
Is a voltage stabilizer recommended after a GEN TO ALT convert on a '67 BGT?

The gauges work on 10 volts. The alternator delivers a nominal 12 volts (12 - 14.5 actually).
Yes, you still need that. You can make one easily enough.
Being an electronic-building dummy, it's only $15 from Moss then all that's left is finding the feed wires to the Smith gauges.
If you order from Moss etc ensure you get a -ve earth version. The ones for sale now are polarity sensitive as they're 'electronic'. The original in a +ve earth car wasn't polarity dependent. Limey (Bits4Brits) has an even niftier one for $15.
Mark, the Voltage Stabiliser and the Voltage Regulator are two different animals. The Alt has an internal regulator so the old external regulator is not required.
Unless the PO was a DPO, the voltage stabiliser should still be living behind the dash happily doing it's job.
Without personally inspecting the car it sounds like all is OK - drive and enjoy:)
cheers

x2. The only gauge the stabilizer would affect on your car would be the fuel gauge.
And the fuel guage works fine and so does the other gauges, I was just wondering because I'm new to a 1967 GT, soooooooo.............thanks you all for saving me time/money and giving me piece of mind.
Cudo's to all!!
A question along this thread: how do you test a voltage stabilizer? My fuel gauge doesn't work, and I put in a VB stabilizer, but not sure if it's working or not.
Thanks,
Ron
