I'm surprised. I saw your superbowl this morning on our tv. Golly, if it was an Australian site, and the football finals were on, you'd never hear the end of it. Two thoughts: 1. You don't wish to talk about the result for fear of open war breaking out, or 2. I should have posted this on O/T. Sorry on both counts :)

New England native. Not happy. We blew our chances with dropped passes, an interception, couple of dumb errors...like the intentional grounding penalty on the first possession...

Look on OT- there's a couple of threads on the superbowl. Incidentally, you'll see from some of those replies that having the grill fired up and watching for new commercials is more important to most watching than who wins...

I played 8 years of football, and these days I don't follow it at all. With that being said, we all got together at my sister and brother-in-law's lake house, it was gorgous day here in the 70s, had great food, wonderful conversation, and there just happen to be a pretty darn good football game on the big screen in the background we watched from time to time. Not a big football fan, especially pro football, but it was real good game, and great day to be an American. (tu)

I celebrated Super Bowl Sunday by going out and PLAYING football...the kind where you kick the ball with your foot. I'm not a big fan of watching a bunch of millionaires mostly standing around on a field on TV.

So you don't watch soccer?

Not a whole lot...I'd much rather play than watch. At least with soccer there's continuous action. Although the strategic aspects of american football seem fairly interesting, I have never been able to understand how folks can enjoy watching something where most of the game time is taken up by both teams standing around getting ready for the next play.

That was an odd mistake to be made by a veteran QB. Very surprising.

I was raised by very Italian parents; football was a universe away from us and from age 8 I played "real" football (soccer) to the point of my right knee reminding me every day now how hard I played :X

I was in the carport ripping cheap monkey - fuzz carpeting off PLT's inner door sills and installing proper rubber sill covers and vinyl kick panels - did I miss something as well? I scored a victory of my own :I3:

I never played football, when I was younger, I used to ski during the Superbowl. Fatherhood came along and both of my boys were avid football players, through college... one at Lawrence University, the other at the University of Minnesota. I learned a ton about the sport by talking with them and watching their games. But my knowledge comes no where near theirs. Now, I start watching football in late fall, try to catch some playoff games in the garage, and then make sure to watch the superbowl... texting my sons now and again if they are not with me. It's a river that runs through our lives, just as skiing is.

I could care less about the super bowl. It's nothing but gluttonous consumption of petroleum based liquid-cheese (wheel bearing grease consistency), low-quality beer, and trans-fat laden chicken wings. Obviously, this is not the case for everyone that watches it, but for a large number...it is.

I'm generally "a-sports-l" (as some are "asexual") but I did watch the game. Not bad, semi-nail-biter. Commercials (my stock in trade) were pretty lackluster this time, I suspect due to blowing their wad on the web the week before. But all in all quite entertaining. Our football to me is pretty boring, most of the time spent scratching and spitting then getting all lined up again for another 6 seconds of action, (repeat) followed by way too much "ANALysis."

But Aussie Rules - well it totally RULES as I learned when I was in Brisbane. Bunch of tough buff guys in shorts, no padding, sloughing around in the mud, constantly on the move - the action never ends. That my friend is sport. PS I thought Madonna did very well for a 53 year old.

You can gauge my level of interest in organized sport by the fact that I received a delayed email from a friend today mentioning Superbowl and asked the other guy in the office if they were playing this coming weekend.....he laughed, of course. I'd ask what teams were playing this year, if I cared. :D

A kindred spirit, Bill.

I only watch to help my friends who place bets (a friend was in Vegas and bet on NY this time). Here's the short version: I must watch at least SOME of the game. If one or more of the teams is from a city where I live or lived, the one from "my" city will lose. If I lived in both cities, the city I more recently lived in will lose. I lived in New York and Boston, with Boston more recently. That means NY will win. They did. Both this time and 4 years ago. For the record I have lived in NY, Boston, Philly, KC, Tampa and San Diego (along with others that do not have teams but support nearby teams such as Baltimore and Washington). Football, basketball, baseball, hockey, doesn't matter. Let me know if I can help you out sometime by watcing or not. 94% success rate.
