I have a small leak on a 73 CB550 motorcycle where the shutoff valve joins the tank. I was thinking I could seal it with something. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Stu

JB Weld. Or one of the cut and knead metal type epoxy stick types of epoxy putty.

Does it screw in? If so Hylomar or Rectorseal on the threads.
Further to John's post, If you have a hole to fill JB Weld has their own cut and knead putty which has
successfully plugged a hole in my TR's gas tank for over a year now. It can (and was) applied with
the tank full and leaking from the hole. Marvellous stuff! (I did cover the patch with fiberglass after ensuring the
leak had stopped)

Stu,
For fixing one small leak I would also go with JD's suggestion for JB Weld or similar.

Most bike shops sell a tank reseal kit from the same company who make POR15 which works well.
It comes in a multi container pack (3 tins , I think from my somewhat hazy memory) and works well if the instructions are followed.
My brother used it on his Yamaha XS650 from the late 60's and it was very impressive.

Just a thought, "Seal All" the glue that comes in the yellow tube for gluing weatherstrips, etc says it is impervious to gasoline. JD is correct, JB weld or epoxy steel sticks that you cut and knead. There is also an epoxy stick that is specially made for sealing gas tanks.
