Moss catalog says small ens of bushings face each other.
Is that correct?
Should there be a gap between the bushing and washer at bottom?

Tom,

Yep that is correct. Turn it over.

Just curious, what is this part for.

It has something to do with the transmission to crossmember mount.

Those top 'wings' go behind the trans cube shaped mounts.

yes transmission mount, that gap just did not look right for some reason but I guess it is.

When I did mine (and they're a bear to do) I didn't have a gap. Are you sure you have the right bolt ? Is it new or old - the bolt ??

John Twist as a Utube on this and how it fits.

Looks like you have it. Keep in mind the mount points on the top and bottom peices are not exactly symetrical, front to back. In the end, when mounted properly, the bolt should be vertical, not leaning forward or backward.

You have my curiosity up. The last time I did that installation, I ruined a couple of rubber bushes until I learned to boil em up good, and pull them through with a nylon cord. I believe the poly bushes now just slide over the pin. Tell me more.

you mean installing the bushings? Never thought about boiling them first.

I compressed the small end with hemostat, lube up the bracket hole, and get one end started thru, then push the rest of it with something blunt that will not cut the bushing. Not a fun job either way I think.

" Turn it over"

Should have made that clearer. If you turn it over and put the wieght on the other end the bracket will slide down and there won't be a space and when it is mounted there won't be a space.
