Reminds me a bit of a sunbeam alpine....nice car...but 60K? I guess you need to be a serious collector...maybe it will end up in Jay Leno's garage...
The reason its 80K is because it is only one of 320 made and I'm pretty sure there aren't very many at all in the US.. Looks sort of like a Ferrari , I guess thats the Italian styling .
I think the price has to do with the fact there were only 320 produced. I wonder how many are still around?
btw.....anyone ever see a Tucker up close?
I have seen and even set in a Tucker , very clever cars . The Auburn has a headlight that turns with the steering wheel like the Tucker did . A lot of the things on the Tucker had been used years before but he did come up with some new stuff.

Yes. The runner car that was in the movie is on display at Coppala's winery in Napa.
A lot of interior room, like most cars of the era. I like the center HL that follows the steering (Lexus "re-invented this last year).
I even have a stock certificate for 1000 shares of Tucker stock. My dad was evermore convinced that Preston Tucker was a Con Man!

"Dependable and rugged British engineering"? Say that the next time your lights flicker or you smell a heavy gasoline odor. :) Well, okay I'll give you "rugged," maybe.
That's one beautiful car but it's way out of any common sense price range. Like so many unusual cars, it becomes less of a "car" (You know, a machine you put gas into and go for a drive in?) and more of a kind of "jewel" you just wax and look at. If I owned a car like that, I'd spend more time worrying about every little scratch than it would be worth.
Truly stunning. I saw one a couple of weeks ago at Import Car Center in Raleigh. Looked rough but complete, think it was a customers car. The guy who owns the shop said there were 3 in Raleigh. Love the styling.

The lack of "draw" in the panels was made up for in the cleanliness of line and wonderful proportions.
I have seen these in photos several times and they are typical of what happened when the Brits turned the different Italian coach builders loose on one of their chassis. Most of the really better looking cars had at least strong roots in Italian design houses even if the metal wasn't folded over there. As for Triumphs the TR4 and up series, the Spitfires, the Heralds and the Stags all sprang from the land of olives and grapes.
The overall best looking automobile of the last half of the twentieth century IMHO was the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso Ferrari. Nothing bizarre about it. No individual feature shouted down any other. Just plain blended artistry. A friend of mine snatched one that had been traded in on a Lincoln at the dealer (holy cow!) back about 1969 for less than seven thousand bucks. For days we just looked at it. One of the best views as sitting up on top of his shop roof looking down on the thing while we consumed adult beverages. :-)

My wife taught Tucker's grandchildren! I met his son once in a store in Ann Arbor - Mary knows them fairly well and introduced me - I didn't relaize who it was until we left the store and Mary clued me in!
Jack - even our MGB's have a hint of the Italian - the rear "fins" were inspired by the "Farina" designs used by BMC for many years.
I am a little suspicious of this car. I have never heard of them before, but at that time there were a number of "kit" body replacements for various British cars including MGAs, and Triumphs of all kinds. The better ones were aluminum, but there were a number of fiberglass ones too. This one looks well put together, but unless there is real documentation to prove it is not a kit car, I would doubt it is worth those $$$$.

Slow Ferrari look alike, but it does look nice. 60K seems a little strong.
Where are the pics of the engine bay?
This place is about 5 miles from my house. This dealership deals in high-end used cars (BMW, Porcshe, Ferrari, Lotus, etc). Rumor has it the owner of the dealership is aquainted with some guy about an hour east of Altanta who purportedly owns 300+ classic/exotic cars like this, and he occasionally sends one or two down to the dealership to sell if the price is right, or take home if it is not. The guy apparently has some big facility he keeps them all in, but does not show them to the general public. Recently, this dealership had two RB MGB's (a '80 LE) and a Vermillion '79 MGB, both with about 4000 original miles on them for sale for $20K each. I think the LE sold for about 17K, but not sure what they got for the '79.
I may have to stop by and take a look at this!
I agree Eric, in that if I were going to spend that much money on ANY automobile I would want a good bit more than a CarFax report. :-)
Part of the value is in the pedigree and this one would be no exception. Selling cars is a direct outgrowth of horse trading. Unless you know what you are doing it pays to have a bonafide expert standing next to you whispering in your ear.
Spending five or ten or even twenty grand on a car is one thing, but when you get into this stratosphere only a personal expert or a fool would go it alone.

I remember having one of those - 1:64 scale doors were a bit sticky though.
They are beautiful cars. I have seen them live before. Now, WTF!!! NO ENGINE BAY pics??? I realize you could care less what the engine bay of a new Bimmer looks like but these are works of art.
