I have a VW flywheel & ring gear advertised for sale on a VW site. I was asking $52.00 including shipping and last week some shithead with an Asian name offered me $47.00. My reply was, "You reallly don't want it do you."
He said he did but was just looking for some wiggle room........... So I gave him some.
I edited my ad, jacked the price up to $65.00, today he contacted me, offered $55.00, and I took it.
"some shithead with an Asian name"
So, how do you really feel about this guy?
I'm still chuckling, but of course, I shouldn't be.
My late grandfather in law used to make and sell bird feeders at a flea market in the NC mountains. We sat up there with him on occasion, and it would crack me up when some poor soul would try to haggle with him:
buyer: "how much for the bird feeder"
grandpa: "$25"
buyer: "I'll give you $20"
grandpa: "hell no, I'll chop this darn thing up and use it for firewood before I sell it for less than $25. For you its now $30 - oh forget it - where's my axe."
He'd repeat this show several times a day. Of course he didn't sell many birdfeeders, but it kept the grandkids entertained.
Hey, John, when I retire and get ready to move to the coast, I want you to sell my house for me!
I know a guy you would like John. He was selling a car, and when the guy offered him a couple hundred less than he was asking, he told the guy he would set it on fire and run it off a cliff before he would sell for less than the asking price. The would be buyer had quite a look of horror on his face. I about peed myself laughing. :)
