"The deal is likely to include a commitment from the Indian company to preserve the style of Land Rover and Jaguar."

There are so many jokes with a company named Tata, but I'm not going there.

Actually, Googling the picture in my first post turned out to be a pleasant exercise....

So, I wonder where you will get parts for your Ford-Jaguar? Ford? Jaguar?

The company stated they wanted to retain the "image, touch and feel". Given the results of the google,

that is quite understandable! :)

I believe there's a very real possibility they'll put the classic Rover aluminum V8 back into production for Range Rover models. That way, Tata wouldn't be dependent on Ford for engines. The tooling and supplier base is still viable, and the engine can be made to meet emission standards. The aluminum V8 is well-loved by Rover enthusiasts, and already particularly well supported (service and parts) in remote parts of the world. This decision could potentially help Tata increase the market (and potential profitability) of Range Rovers in India and SE Asia.

Has Tata bought jaguar without the rights to the Jaguar V8 engine? That would be somewhat odd, the Jaguar v8 is the principle asset. Land Rover already uses the Jaguar engine.

Now getting a 250 HP Jaguar V8 into an MBG would be interesting...

Main challenge would be that you need to have the ECU to make it work and that is hard.
