All - Many thanks to MGCCars and Ed. After having to recharge my battery about every 4 days, I figured it was time to bit the bllet and replace the alternator. I knew it wasn't a short in the system after extensive troubleshooting--and after taking the old Lucas to Advance Auto for a bench test and them telling me it was dead as a post. I really didn't want to mess around with changing pulleys and adapting plugs, so the one offered by mgccars was the right answer to easy installation and amperage upgrade. I figure I would have spent far more time and money dorking around trying to do the mods myself. Ed was even available on Saturday when I called with a technical question about the back bushing. Now that's customer service. Anyway, the installation was a breeze, and I'm now getting great electrical output. The car even seems to run better. Maybe because the coil is getting more juice and not trying to pull power from a weakened battery. I don't know. I heartily recommend mgccars for their preconfigured alternators for anyone contemplating an upgrade.
