My stepson phoned last night and said that their LCD Monitor is acting up. He seems to think that due to the way they have the computer installed there was stress on the cord and it is damaged. This is the fixed signal cord, not the power. Personally, I doubt that this is the problem, but I'm asking because who know? He says the picture is rolling, or at least that's what his description sounds like.
This is a multi-pinned cord, so I imagine it's kind of a hassle and may involve a bunch of soldering? Anyone replaced one?
I may have him bring it over. At least that way I could see the cord, see why he thinks it's damaged, and perhaps try an ohm meter on it to see if it's broken internally.

Every LCD monitor I've seen has always had a removable signal cord.

He says it's not removable. I have a CRT on my computer, but I went and looked at the LCD monitor on my wife's computer and it's not removable either.
I just got off the phone to my stepson, and he's pretty sure it's the cord, or more accurately the connector. He is able to wiggle it around and get a picture. I suggested that he consider it might be the video card. I think he's taking the monitor to his father in law's and trying it on another computer.
