Fianlly started pulling the Coupe apart over the weekend. She hasn't been touched or seen the light of day since 1977. Starting with the drivers side she needs all the usual sill work, front and rear fender repairs (Rear inners as well. Hoping to save the pillars.

It seems there is a group of us at a very similar stage (although you need to catch up slightly!)
There are a lot of coupes being brought back!! Long live the FHC ! Andy, looks like a lot of fun ahead.. lots of good advice and guys with some beautiful coupes on this board. You can click on the link in my sig for my photos of my resto.. keep us posted on your progress.. I have the engine and transmission out of mine currently.
Andy,
It looks a lot better than my coupe did 5 years ago. Mine started as a '58 1500, and now has a 1622, 5-speed, and 3.9 diff. Take care of some of the original parts, such as window frame parts and door chrome trim strips as these are no longer available.
Contact me directly if you have any questions as you go along.
Peter.

Peter.. unless they no longer have them.. VB was selling the door top strips a year ago..(I bought a pair) expensive but better then what my car had..
Aye aye viva la coupe.
I would be tempted to do another one with custom mechanicals. If you need an engine redo, I would strongly endorse the 1800 MGB transplant. I have the 1500 and it just doesnt have the poop. And running 4000 rpm on the highway isnt that great either. I have driven Peters "rally replica" coupe with the 5 speed and that would be high on the list as well.
Or not...
My window trim is in great shape thank god. All the glass was ou of the car when i got it, wrapped and in nice condition. Came with the original seats which need recovered. (5) wire wheels in ok shape
Good notes. The boot area is perfect. Engine looks like is was never out of the car so everything is intact and pretty original.
Bad notes. Sill areas are in pretty rough shape. Someone fiber glassed alot of stuff to repair inner and outer sill areas. In the process of getting down to metal to see what things look like.
More photos to come.
Nevada desert has been very kind to me,I had no sill replacement done.Only a little part to replace on the passenger side rear sill outer, and one battery mount. You can see the original blue under the red...I found a nice Indian Turquoise Blue on an old Apache truck that I like...Not sure yet but I might as well go with the original color.
Upon inspection of my passanger rear fender I realize that the forward mounting flange in gone. Done anyone have a rear fender off? I'd like to get a tracing of the flange so I can make a repair piece.
It doesn't have to be too exact...the original is like a strap and can move a little..I would clamp it in place and maybe eyeball it..i might have some pics to look at...
Well I've collecting sheet metal parts for the last couple months as funding is available. I now have everything except the front and rear fender repair panels which are last on my list. Anything else i need i'll probably fab up myself. I hope to start tearing into the sills in the next week. I've been really impressed with all the panels I've purchased from Scarborough Faire. Very helpful as well.
