and all I can say is, what a mess!
There was nothing on this car that had not been hacked to pieces or changed. Nothing worked as it should and the paint looked like it was done with a roller ( and I mean in a bad way) :P
I'm not kidding, there were 3 volt gauges and only one worked. Two oil pressures gauges and neither worked. No keys to the car and the only way to get it going was in a hot-wire fashion. The quality of MGs I have seen in this town is dismal and quite upsetting. I did drive it around for a few minutes and I did enjoy that much! The MG that was meant for me will show up when the time is right.
Looked at a 68 B today. re: 6 months without an MG

There are actually MG's in your town?

Well there are pieces of MGs around here. I would say the GT was the only complete car in the valley.

It was a great car, but it wasn't THE one. It is the roadster I am after.
Hey Rusty....you could still buy Sharon Stone's MGB from the Imperial Palace!

lol, I bet they'd give it away at this point. They aren't doing do well over there right now.
Rusty, I bought my roadster off Ebay from a reputable Brit car seller up in Eugene, OR who had been in business for years. So don't rule out long distance purchases if you can verify what's been done with lots of pictures, phone calls, etc. I know many people say not to do that, but you might even be able to get one inspected for you. It's a good time to buy what with the recession and all.
Hey Rusty did you check out this thread...

If you don't find the right "B" It will find you! I waited 8 yrs to find my '65 B.
I had Midgets,Jags and a TR6 I sold to buy my perfect "B". A guy 2 miles from me had this B and heard I had differnt British cars, contacted me if I knew anyone looking. I asked about the B it was from California and Very clean. I looked at it and it was just what I always wanted, but could not find. There are many hacked and rusted Bs here in Wisconsin. The funny thing is I was not even looking when this happened.

I know that proprietor personally and got my B through him as well.
Hang in there Rusty - miy B came to me - literally. I was in his shop with my 67 Sprite for some carb work, the owner of that shop saw me (6' 2") getting out of it and said, "man!, when are you gonna get a B?" Then i said, ya know, my buddy's got one, maybe i should cuz I ain't 17 anymore :) The very next week he hooked me up with this B. A week after that, a member here bought my sprite (from CA).
So, ya just never know..... :) Happy endings do exist....
I have a 1971 B for sale which I've owned since 1998. Located in Florida. If you're looking for something already finished, this might be the one. These were only new once, but, in my opinion, as well as in many other judges, this one is about as close as someone can get to a "new" MGB. You might have read about this car in Classic Motorsports magazine a few years ago (July 2005 edition)...

Having gone through 10 years of AACA shows and reaching the level of achievement it has, the concern about long distance purchase is somewhat reduced. Plus, it's only a 38 hour drive away! ;)
Bart
Bart, as a college student, i think your B surpasses my budget unless you take playing trombone for you as a form of payment. Or I can pay you in strapping lad axle straps. :P
That '73 would be a great deal for me if I could pick it up somewhere close. MS is a little far. :(
I'll be on the look out for the guy selling Bs out of Eugene
There have been an endless flow of emails today on MGs for sale since I posted this topic. Thank you all in advance for helping get back into an MG again! :D

Rusty - there is a solid looking '67 project in on Ebay, in the Los Angelas area, looks to have a low buy it now price. If I were in LA, I would very likely do that deal.
Jay, can you link it? I can't seem to find it.
Paul, you know as well as I do that it never stops! :D
Well here is an interesting one that someone sent me a link to.
