Spent the morning at auto shops, sears, walmart, etc, then went to the junk yard.
Spent about an hour searching cars, back seats, trunks, found one I liked from a corolla that was the right size, etc. On the way back to pay stopped by a taurus and for laughs checked the trunk, an even smaller size scissor jack was still in it. Did some quick measurements and it looked fine. I brought it home and checked it out, fits and works great. It will definitely support the B, the taurus is a least 2x its curb weight.
The jack stows nicely in the inverted tire rim, now I've got a nice uncluttered trunk. TY for all the opinions and thoughts. paid $10.

So your using the the same point that the original jack fits into under the door.
You will crush them. If you must use a scissors jack under the "tube" jacking points, slip a deepwall socket that fits inside to prevent damage.
I already crushed one of mine on a high curb (yes, it was loud and it was ugly) - but I generally place my jack just on the inside of those "tubes".
I am considering cutting the tubes off just to get them out of the way (and maybe that is where I will place my jack in future).
I cut the tubes off my GT to remove the temptation to use them. I have seen to many cars with damaged rockers from careless jacking.
I use a GM scissor jack, under the spring pans at the front and under the front end of the leaf spring at the back.
I recently invested in a full-size trolley jack for use at home-Love it!
Cheers,
Rich
I have been using the jack points to life my B off the floor with a hydraulic floor jack for years, then I support her with 4 jack stands. The jack points are probably the thickest pieces of steel on the car other than suspension points/assemblies. These are also the points where the car is "balanced" by weight as each side is suspended, these
being crush points would be hard to accept...unless they are rusted out and then you may other problems than jacking her up.
I've also used a floor jack with a concave saddle under the tubes dozens of times and never had a problem with them crushing. I usually use the front or rear to lift, but occasionally it's convenient to lift just one side of the car.
I wouldn't use a scissor jack at the side jack point because I'd be afraid it would slip off.
Whenever I am doing anything under any car that is going to be off the ground, I place wheel chocks/blocks under the wheels on the side opposite to the side coming off the ground; front and back wheels so she can't drift either direction. Learned my lesson years ago when a friends car fell while up on one of those trusty bumper jacks. We forgot to set the emergency brake and jacked the back end up, naturally if moved forward. Nothing damaged, other tham egos, scared the crap out of us though. I carry two small chocks in the spare wheel with the jack.
