I am converting a rubber bumper to chrome bumper. Question is "can I install front springs from a chrome bumper car to lower ride height on the rubber bumper?"

Thanks in advance.

No. You'll need a chrome bumper crossmember, lowering springs or dropped spindles.

Do rubber bumpers use the same size spring as a chrome bumper, but with a different cross member, to make them sit higher?

The crossmember is different. I think I read somewhere that the spring rate is different also.

I lowered my Rubber Bumper GT using CB front springs and lowering blocks in back. Worked for me. Got it all from Bob at Brittek

There are slight differences in the spring rates and height but that was just to alter ride quality, the difference in ride height was achieved by the addition of two pedestals on the top of the crossmember. Putting stock CB springs in a RB car will not lower it.

Isn't there a problem with the steering if you simply use a CB crossmember???
