MG MGB and MGB GT Tech Talk
I believe that MGB wheels are a 4 bolt on 4 1/2" center as are a number of other cars. Looking for the offset for MGB wheels and how that is measured. I have heard that some of the Triumph wheels will fit. Would the MGA steel wheels fit on an MGB and if not what is the offset for the MGA wheels? Are there any other 4 bolt by 4 1/2 wheels that will fit on a B like Datsun etc.
Dastun 280ZX wheels are popular choice, ans the offset is real close and they too are 4x4.5" or 4x114.3mm, offset is a bit difficult for one to measure, offset is bascilt where the back side of the wheel where is faces to the hub is in relationship with the center of the wheel, so say on our VTO 15X6" alloy wheel fitment for the MGBS, they +24mm offsert, mening the hub face of the wheel is 24mm poutboard of the center of the wheels, and it has a backspacing of aprox. 4.5". Backsapcing is easier measurmeent for folks to check, backspacing is measurued form the inboard side edge of the rim , back to th hub face on the in board side of the wheel. On 6" wide wheel you'd look for a backspacing of aprox. 4.5", on 5.5" wheel around 4.25", 5" around 4.00". There is library article here telling you waht wheels form OEM applications will fit a MGB, or well atleast have the same bolt pattern. Hope this helps.
