A very nice MGC GT....will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Next buyer will be just the 2nd owner, if you don't include the auction house.

Mark, after looking at the pictures for quite awhile (too bad there are so few), I would say that one is unlikely to find a more original looking car....hope it goes for big bucks. We'll get to see what "everyone else" thinks of MGCs ! ! !

Lloyd,

Yes, it will be interesting.

Not only the final price be of interest, if just to establish a current ceiling, but the bidding will be interesting.

I hope it is on ESPN and I hope to watch it.

Seems I should know that car, but I don't remember seeing it before. If it has ever shown at the All British Field Meet at PIR it has been a while. Perhaps Wally or someone else in Club-T MG knows this one.

Must be an overdrive car (no kickdown cable on the throttle) and it has the original optional woodrim steering wheel. Boosters have been rebuilt, emissions gear is missing, but everything else seems to be there and in the right place.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how the auction goes. Perhaps it will spark more interest in our cars.

C Ya,

I love "attractive patina" and I think the buyer will be the third owner, assuming the current vendor is not R&M. From the pictures seems to look very nice, yes I guess we will see what the others think of a MGC. The latest issue of Sports and Classics had the MGCGT valued at 8500.00. I think a little low for such a car but that is what people will remember when they are buying.

Marc
If you go, take a look at the car and give us a report on its "in person condition" and of course the sale price.

Dont you have a survey giving colors of the MGC and GT from the owners, ie how many PP and Red, etc? Would be interesting to know what colors were popular in 68 and 69.

Ron,

Yes I do. From the survey BRG was the most popular color, as it was on 27% of the cars surveyed, with PP and TR (Tartan Red) tied at 13% each. White was next at 11%, followed by Mineral Blue at 6%. That's 70% of the cars in the survey, with the remaining colors (Grampian Grey, Black, Sandy Beige, etc.) making up the remaining 30%.

And over 60% of the owners had their cars in the "original" color, or at least original to them. I'd have to say most of these were "original from the factory" colors, given that you have to take a car down to the shell to eliminate all traces of the original color.

Without having Original MGB in front of me, it would be hard to tell what was the most popular color choices back then.

But my offer still stands....anyone willing to pick up the tab for me to go to Gaydon and completely copy all the records pertaining to the MGC, I'm all ears.

two MGCs

Some things I noticed. The drivers door looks like it is sagging and the hood alignment looks to be off center to the passenger side. These two items may just be photo glitches. Rear shocks have been changed to tube type. There are a few things that need to be corrected under the hood to return to a more original state (if you are into that type of thing) but all and all the car looks to be a very presentable driver.
All this from someone who drives a non factory color turbo charged "C" rds.
