MG Rendezvous, Big Bend MG's, Tallahassee, Florida - - -I told my wife we wouldn't have our car ready. She said we could take her Mini Van. So I guess we will go. Never been to a gathering like this. It says that it is from the 11th thru the 14th. We figured we would go on Friday and come home on Sunday. Anybody been? Anybody going? Is it worth going for two days? How far away will have to park our Mini Van so that we don't get snubbed?

Mick,
Since this must be your first, I would just say throw the rear main seal in your pocket. If anyone questions you, just pull it out.
If they still question you, pull out the clutch release fork and use it as a slingshot.
Jimmy, I'll take the Rear Seal. But what if they ask me any questions? Will I be able to get in touch with you? LOL

Mick,
My bet is that by now, you can hold your own in any conversation there.
Mick, the first two shows I went to I didn't have my car with me. There's enough people there roaming around that nobody will know the difference. And you're already one up on a lot of them - most will never have pulled their engine themselves - I haven't, although I tried to talk myself into it once. But after my wife saw what kind of mechanic I am, she decided that if I took it out, it might never go back in!! :D
Whereabouts in Georgia do you live?
Everyone at the gathering won't be from Tallahassee, but some will, and you will be treated with complete respect and affection as are all newbies to any southern MG clan meeting.
I lived in Tallahassee for ten years and the folks down that way are to a person, kind, considerate and respectful on top of inventing partying. LOL
While you are there run out Centerville Road, northeast quadrant, and go to Bradley's Store. They have the BEST sausage and locally butchered beef and pork on the planet. Before you go out there stop somewhere and buy a styrofoam cooler and ten pounds of dry ice. You will want to take LOTS back home! There are folks who actually have it air shipped to all parts of the US, even the west coast. It is THAT good.

Take your Camera, you can record good ideas you might want to do to your B.
John, are you going? We live in Leesburg. Boardering Albany to the North.
Thanks Jack, we will for sure bring some Sausage home with us.
We will be taking our Camera Swamper. Maybe we'll get some pictures you folks would like to see.
BTW Jimmy, I'm really not that timid. After all, I now know what Down Pipes are, I've had the Clutch in my hands, I know how to find TDC (Jack), I've installed a new Distributor (Jeff) with Crane XR 700, I've installed rebuild Carbs (Jimmy) I've bought the proper books 1962-1974 (Moss) and 1975-1980 (Kuz1) per Rob's suggestion to do so. I bleed my Brakes (Mac) I've got MGB oil on the floor in my shop, and best of all I feel like an MGB guy.

Mick, we won't go - we live just south of Atlanta, so it would be a LONG ride. I'm not much on driving the MG on expressways, so it would take us a long day to get there.
I've been down your way - we drove the MG down 19 to Andersonville a couple of years ago. That's a beautiful drive!
Maybe one day Susan and I will be able to come your way.
Mick M.
My wife, Ellen, and I will be there! We depart Bradenton on Friday morning and should roll into town about 3 to 4 pm. My car pictured below is registered so please come by to say "hey"! We'll be looking for you.
Great Rick - We've decided that we're just going up for Saturday. We will find you.

I think the Bhive sells "my other car is an MGB" bumper stickers - you could put one on and then stick a picture of your engine rebuild project on the windscreen of the minivan.
