Well after two minutes of looking at my old engine my local car club friend Joe K. said the original engine had a bear go out, the cam still looks good he say and we’ll have a look at it soon. We packed it up his SUV for he could take it up to his garage. He’s coming down with Phil (from the forums, another local guy) this Saturday with his trailor and where taking my MGB with the newer engine to his shop for we can drop the oil pan. Hopefully if I’m lucky we can have both engine running for under 1,000 dollars, that’s the best case situation, worst case is will mix and match parts from both engine with intern buying new parts and fully rebuild one. A few members in my club are going to be helping out; this will be a learning session for me.

Now to the things I’ve done, I think this is really NEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just installed Gas powered Bonnet struts.

Good luck on the rebuild(s).

BTW, is that an aluminum or steel bonnet? I have an aluminum one and can't (I'm told) use the struts. Right now I use a piece of 1" X 1", about 4' long to prop it open. Not the greatest solution.

Keenan, that's a good price on the rebuild. And it's nice to have the bonus of extra hands and eyes when doing it.

No "Bashing" ;-) here, just a friendly suggestion.

Keenan, it is nice to see you around once again, but PLEASE install the Google spell checker on your tool bar. It will help in making your posts more readable and less distracting.

OK. I can go to bed happy, now that I've learned something today.

I've never noticed it as part of your signature before.

Good job, Keenan. Nice video. I'm about to do the same thing. Glad to know it's not going to be difficult to do.

"Joe K. said the original engine had a bear go out"

I'm still trying to figure that out. Does it mean a "bearing" went out or perhaps a "gear"? Or is it something more literal:

Do you run your posts through a translator to another language and back again?

haha. I have a cousin who actually talks like that though... it's horrible!

Good job, though! I'm thinking about making a youtube account and posting mg videos... only problem is, I'd have to film myself getting confused and only attempting to fix things.

Sounds like you are in a good situation Keenan. Getting some friends (MG Friends) to help you is the ticket. Keep us up to date as you progress.
