Notice that they don't mention anything about cracks in the head.

When did unknown condition heads begin to be worth over $50????

Depends on the media. Bead blasting to clean a head is normal. Makes 'em all pretty like. ;)

Yeah. Toss in the other $45 or so he's charging for shipping, and you've got a bunch of lottery tickets.

That is NOT a 1973 head. It's originally from a 75 or newer car. It may have come off of a 73 car but the head is definitely newer. I wouldn't buy it without the seller having had it checked for cracks. It's a crap shoot otherwise. Nice try on the cleanup.

Run away from this head. Anyone who would blast a head with the valves and springs still in it isn't showing much capability.

I can't believe they didn't disassemble it first!

Bead blasting doesn't ruin a head, I bead blast every head I do, but I disassemble them to do it. Anytime you blast a head, media will find it's way into water jacket, ad such, so as a final cleaning deal, I sumerge them to get all the media out than do a final caustic wash. I normally do this on a completely stripped head, including the guides removed.

Those late model heads are the very worse for cracking, and not just water jacket to exterior of the head, but also they crack in the exhaust seat area, and if the crack travels out of the seat into the roof of the exhaust port, it's a goner, you can't fix what you can't get to. I don't buy this heads as-is, because I've ended up getting cracked ones. I will say this though, if you don't bead blast these heads you may never see the cracks in the exhaust seat area and they won't show up on a magnaflux or pressure check many times, because they are filled with carbon.
