New poll due to Steve S idea input."
Excuse us,
your Hindendness.
The only time I ask a question is:
When I don't know the answer.
I can't find it in the library.
I want a plethora of answers, from knowledgeable people.
And I might do it, just to be a pain in the ass to some people who don't like it. :D
If there is any new site made, you are not having your arm twisted to go there.
Didn"t I see you serving KFC on Kodiak island
And to set things straight....
This poll runs for 10 days ( and I am off winnebagoeing for the next few), and this is just to see what is the most popular way of publishing.
Then there should be a poll for nominees of hosting.
Methinks you should stop yer bitching until 10 days.
I don't think the host site should just go to anyone for free traffic and income.
Should be by popular vote.
Let me point out a couple of things that should be obvious...

If I decide to launch a website (or add a section to my existing website) I don't need anyone's permission or vote. I'll just do it. If anyone from this forum or elsewhere would like to share a repair/restoration idea on it, that would be nice. If not, that's fine as well. Same is true if someone else wants to do it.
If you think such a site would be a cash cow, maybe you should do it. I've never received a cent of income from any website I've done, so I wasn't even considering trying to sell ads, etc. and don't want to approach it from that standpoint. I just know that several forum members have gone to the trouble to document work that they thought might be helpful to someone else...not because they expected anything in return, but just because they thought someone else might benefit from the information. It's a shame that the information they wanted to share isn't available...
Yes and you don't see the problem do you?
Who is to say that documented article is correct?
Just the person who submits it.
If this new site ever goes, it's only gunna be a pure reference site where newbies can be pointed to.
No talk back. like here.
Old hands may never go near the joint once read.
But It WILL be handy, say if you awaken the B after winter and first run, it has a strange rattle or noise or vibration.
NOBODY KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT THESE BEASTIES.
So a trip to the ref site will be much less drama than searching and asking and getting a lot of repeated drivel.
So, you want newbies to be referred to your site even it has false unchecked information ?
Cash cow? Not a chance! A site like that will never generate enough income to make it worth the effort. It has to be done out of love for the hobby or it will fail, I guarantee. It's web admin 101.
I really don't see where this poll is going,I cannot make out one answer to be the right one or it can look as if a gripe against this forum is between the lines ,but what I do know is when I first came on this forum I didn't know what questions I needed to ask so sometimes a search dosn't work.
you get the car,you look for info but you don't know yet what info you need so you read and read and read,if its boring I think I would have given up ages ago.So a forum with a slight slant on humour with pictures, damn thats ideal.and it makes the learning process much easier.
My job is training,I train guys that don't really want to learn new tricks (appliance engineers),their in their 40's why should they,so I put a slant on all my training and make sure I get all the bullit points of my training notes over to them even if they think they have been on holiday for a week, and it works!
This forum does the same, its newbie when it needs to be and techy to boot!,old subjects will always come up again and again but on a diff slant, new products, fixings, and idea's all in the mix, what i'm saying is you can never come up with the 100% right answer for all of the people all of the time and if you could put it in the library.
I do not see any point in the vote.I have not voted.
Pooch. Just do it. Then stop yakking about it. ;)"
Well, so far I see only 4 candidates .
I can't vote myself in assistant yet until the publishing is sorted, that looks almost settled early on.
And i know who is making the most sense here so far.
And Rick, the most knowledge I have in offsite hosting is that I am lucky to know how to put pics on photobucket.
Please no fights and aggro until I get back on later tonite
Don't wanna miss a good stoush
