I have been trying to decide on the Miller Tig 200 or the Lincoln Tig 225. I would appreciate any knowledge on the subject. Thanks Dennis70

I like my Miller. I just wish that I could use it better. :-) Jack

Chose whichever you get a better deal on, they are both quality units. Also checkout Hobart, same family as Miller.

Since I've been shopping for a welder too, I've been asking a number of the structural steel and ornamental iron companies that I work with about welders.

More often than not, these guys are supporters of Miller welders. They believe that they are built more for the trades and built to last. They all also said that for what I want (autobody, home enthusiast), a Lincoln, Hobart, etc. would all be good too.

I don't know if any of this is true, but it's what i'm being told.

BTW Jack - At least you know how to use one. I still need to learn!

I don't think you'll go wrong with any of the name brands. FWIW, I have a Miller MIG, but Lincoln or Hobart would probably work just as well. Go for the best deal.

I have a lincoln at home and I have used Millers a lot at work.
The Lincoln that I have is a ideal arc 375 amp..
I like it for alumn..
also for stick welding and Cast iron..
The newer machines have alot of cuircet boards in them and can go south rather fast..
If you are looking for a tig try to find one that is not digatel read out try to stay simple with the weldor.
You can not go wrong with eather machine..
What is thex coast diff???
What extras are you getting with the TIG
Torch, water cooler,
rregulater??
If you want to have fun make shure that you get the foot control with it..
A speed way torch is nice and light..

I have Miller and Lincoln stuff, both good products, but I would recommend Miller just for the fact every welding supply shop in the free world services and sells Miller, not everyone works on Lincoln.

I have to agre with you on that.
All of the years going to the welding shops every one has a miller..
I have used dozens of millers and only a few I had any problems with..
I have to say that the older ones are bullet prof..
I had a tig Miller 300 that was made in 1959 and worked as well as any new one!
So they will last!!

I just bought a Clarke. VERY happy - but the odd thing is that Clarke is a British company and the welder was made in...... (wait for it)........ ITALY!!!

Go figure!

It does seem well made, and it works very well - even with my limited welding skills!

Hay Dennis
How are you doing with that TIG welder.
Have you been doing any welding with it?
